🔥 ICWA SHOWED UP AT STATE! 🔥

The 2025 1A–4A Jr High/Middle School State Tournament was a big one for Iron County Wrestling Academy!

Because wrestlers were required to compete under a school name, ICWA entered the tournament under Canyon View for 2025. So while the brackets and official results say “3A – Canyon View,” make no mistake about it — THESE WERE ICWA WRESTLERS!

When the tournament was over, our crew had battled through loaded brackets, piled up pins and bonus points, fought back through consolation rounds, and put 19 ICWA wrestlers on the state podium — including THREE STATE CHAMPIONS! 🏆🏆🏆

🏆 THREE ICWA STATE CHAMPIONS

Kyndal Halgren – Girls Jr High 100

Kyndal was on a mission. She opened her tournament with a 12-second pin, followed it with a 15-0 tech fall in the semifinals, and then pinned Mauricia Torres of Carbon in the championship match.

Three matches. Three dominant wins.

🥇 STATE CHAMPION!

Quade Robinson – Boys Middle School 93

Quade absolutely tore through the bracket.

He opened with a 17-0 tech fall, added a pin in the quarterfinals, then rolled to an 18-0 tech fall in the semifinals before winning the state championship with another 15-0 tech fall.

And the craziest part?

The entire 93-pound podium belonged to ICWA:

ICWA went 1-2-3 at STATE!

That is one loaded wrestling room.

Cael Imlay – Boys Jr High 100

Cael started his run with a tech fall and followed it with back-to-back pins to reach the championship match.

Then came a battle.

With a state title on the line, Cael went to sudden victory against Ford Thornton of South Summit and came away with the 10-7 win.

When it mattered most, Cael got it done.

💪 AND ICWA WASN'T DONE

The championship medals were only part of the story.

🥈 Kael Halgren – 2nd at Boys Middle School 90
🥈 Carter Wood – 2nd at Boys Middle School 93
🥈 Kallen Cavalieri – 2nd at Boys Jr High 145

🥉 Kynzlee Halgren – 3rd at Girls Middle School 80
🥉 Lilja Komrs – 3rd at Girls Middle School 116
🥉 Kempson Humphreys – 3rd at Boys Middle School 93
🥉 KC Spencer – 3rd at Boys Jr High 93

And some of those medals came with GREAT stories.

Kynzlee Halgren dropped her quarterfinal match and then went to work. She battled back with two straight pins before winning a 9-8 nail-biter in the third-place match.

Lilja Komrs had one of the best comeback stories of the tournament. She lost to Maeylieh Cotner of Carbon in the quarterfinals, battled all the way back through the consolation bracket, and earned another shot at Cotner for third.

The second time?

Lilja pinned her.

That's how you finish a tournament.

KC Spencer bounced back from a semifinal loss with a major decision and then capped off his tournament by pinning Carson Spires for third place.

And Kallen Cavalieri was absolutely hammering people on his way to the finals — recording three straight first-period pins in :41, :34 and :52 before finishing as the state runner-up.

And those numbers don't tell the whole story.

Cambrie Hunter put up a 24-13 major decision. ICWA wrestlers throughout the middle school and junior high divisions were collecting pins, tech falls, major decisions and valuable state-tournament experience against wrestlers from programs all across Utah.

Some won titles.

Some reached the podium.

Some fell short of where they wanted to finish.

But every one of them was part of building something.

And that's what makes looking back at this tournament so much fun.

The brackets may say Canyon View.

We know who was really out there.
