ICWA made a statement at Junior High State. This tournament forces us to enter under a school name — this year we competed as Cedar (last year CV) — but everybody in the building knows the truth: that was Iron County Wrestling Academy on the mat. 

We had 10 wrestlers in the finals and 16 total placers. And on the boys’ side, we took 2nd place in 4A with 18 of our guys wrestling. That’s not “a few kids had a good day.” That’s a program showing depth, toughness, and a team culture that scores points every round.

Highlights that deserve to be said out loud 🔥

State Champions 🥇

• Kc Spencer — 3x State Champion and the finals was fireworks. Big-match energy, big finish.

• Quade Robinson — did Quade things and teched and pinned his way to another title. 2x State Champion.

• Kynzlee Halgren — State Champion and has become a problem for anyone in her bracket. Battled through a tough semi, wrestled with confidence and heart.

• Bo Christensen — our jiu-jitsu convert and a 2-year wrestler. For not much mat time, that level change is WILD. Tight finals vs Juab and stayed composed to get it done.

Finalists 🥈

• Jace Goulding — 4th grader in a division that can have 6th graders and he still made the finals. That’s rare, and it’s loud proof the work is real.

• Drexel Ashworth — also a 4th grader and he was out there hammering kids. Tough, mature wrestling and a great run to the finals.

• Jax Ross — put up points in a hurry, including a tech fall, and wrestled a strong tournament to reach the finals.

• Carter Wood — 2x finalist. Gritty, confident, and keeps winning big matches when the lights are on.

• Cambrie Hunter — last year her first tournament ever was State… and now she’s a state finalist. That’s huge growth. She’s come so far.

• Kabella Holyoak — showed up and competed hard when it counted. Got a big fall, fought through the bracket, and earned her way to the finals. Tough kid.

3rd Place 🥉

• Bronx Harris — absolute dawg. Had a tough semi loss, took it personal, and stormed back to 3rd. He’s leveled up big this year and it’s been fun to watch.

4th Place

• Stihl Bulloch — bumped up a weight so we could score both brackets and wrestled a semifinal that had our corner going nuts. 0–0 into the 3rd, then up 3–2 with 15 seconds left. Didn’t get the result, but it left us proud and him hungry.

• Dillon Roundy — for a 2nd year wrestler, the growth is crazy. Made a deep run with multiple big wins and kept coming forward all tournament.

• Easton Griffiths — battled back through the consolations with momentum and stacked up wins on the backside. Tough tournament.

• Lane Mortensen — dug deep and won a tight one in Sudden Victory. That’s grit and heart — the kind of match that builds you.

5th Place

• Leila Mortensen — fought back and finished strong for 5th. Reset, battled back, and ended the tournament the right way.

What a way to finish the season for a bunch of these kids. They’ve put in the work all year and it showed when it mattered. For some, this is the perfect exclamation point on the season.

And for the ones who still have more ahead… Super State is next. We hope they peak there too. We’re proud of you already — now it’s time to sharpen it up, stay healthy, and peak at the right time. Let’s go finish strong. 💪
